LE PRAXINOSCOPE LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

What?
The Praxinoscope little free library turns a typical little free library to an interactive and age-friendly one. It helps people with different abilities and ages to use it and celebrates children’s artwork by turning them into an animation.
Why?
Nowadays, we are distracted by many different messages and news during the day. We can’t encourage communities to use their little free library only by placing it in their neighborhood. We need to incorporate a catalyst to motivate the dwellers to check out their little free library, use it and also take care of it.
How?
This little free library has two parts: one part adjusted to adult’s height and the other to children. The lower part can also serve people who are using wheelchair. A series of mirrors are placed in the middle of the library and a succession of glazed openings are also located around those mirrors to reflect the artworks in them. This Praxinoscope is activated once one rotates the lower part of the library. This rotation only happens in the kids’ section and the upper part of the library doesn’t spin. The library’s roof is slightly slanted to tolerate Calgary’s snow during the winter. The library has the potential in future to incorporate solar panels on top of its roof to light up during the night.
