As an architectural student, I worked with Peninsula Municipal Engineering, Inc. in Winter 2021 on a project in Sea Ranch, a coastal community north of San Francisco known for its quiet beauty and nature-focused design. I helped develop the architectural model, site plan, floor plans, elevations, and permit drawings, and coordinated with the civil engineer for approval and construction documents. This project taught me a great deal about designing on steep terrain, preserving existing trees, and working with, not against, the natural contours of the land.
One of my favorite moments in the design was a window where the living room opens directly into the landscape, a corner designed to blur the line between indoors and out. The layout thoughtfully balances private and semi-private zones, creating an ideal setting for a peaceful weekend retreat.
